210mm x 240mm. Brush and ink with mechanical tone. Early 1980s. A Birmingham businessman with interests in The Turf commissioned me to do a series of Racing Cartoons, which were printed as posters and distributed to a network of betting shops for publicity purposes. The drawings are slightly battered now, and interestingly stained and faded, but are in excellent condition. I've always liked them, and am even now a bit reluctant to let them go. They'll look great mounted and framed. A fine and crisp drawing. I learned horse anatomy through this work, which has come in handy from time to time. You know how sometimes you just have to know how a horse works. The mech tone is a very pre-digitaltool. Hours of tendon-tensing work with a surgical scalpel.
